History of this area "CHOUF"
1975 : April 14 : The war taking of religious and denominational dimensions, the "Comandos" Palestinians living the town of "Barja" close "Debbieh". Driving out their houses christian inhabitants of the village "Ain El Assad" in Iqlim El Kharroub, the Christians inhabitants of the close villages fled the area towards Beirut, it is the first sample of displacement of population of lebanon.
1975, The Nationnal Library, were damaged and plundered in 1975 by Palestinian which occupied it in 1975, the same fate struck the Library of "Sleiman EL BOUSTANY" and the ministry for the plan by the hands of the Palestinians.
1976, End of the army; Massacre Christians with "Maasser Beit Eddine".
1977, 6th March, 200 Christians were massacre in "Chouf".
1985, April, Iqlim El Kharroub, was devastated by the militia of the leader Druze "Walid Jumblatt". The Christian Villages were Completely Shaven.
The religious factor does not explain the Lebanese conflict. The militia however had recourse to the denominational membership at various times of the war. During what was called war the the two year old (1975-1976) when Beirut was divided "into two", at the time of the Israeli invasion (june 1982), at the time of the war of the Mountain which took place after the withdrawal of the israeli army of the areas of Chouf, the mount lebanon (septmeber 1983) and at the time of a new fold of the israeli army, carried out in the south in the areas of Iqlim El Kharroub and in the east of sidon (1984 - June1985)
The question of safety does not seem any more one obstacle, the reconciliation between Druzes and Christians having taken place in all the villages concerned except one. The political good - will of the leader Druze, "Walid Jumblatt" to see returning the Christians in Chouf is not questioned, because it seems to correspond to its interest if its area remains under - populated, others could come to fill the Vacuums... However it is proven, historically, that the Druzes can cohabit with Christians, but not with Moslems Shiites or Sunnites...
GEOGRAPHY
CLIMATE
The weather in this Area is moderate while in winter, it makes cold, and heat in summer, the good weather will be in autumn between September till November.
"Debbieh" is a livable village in every season of the year.
"Debbieh" is a hight of the Sea of 500 m.
"Debbieh" village counts today some 1000 habitants between Christians and Moslems, the moslems bought grounds of the christians, and they again live it, the christians one sold his grounds before and during the last war (1982-1985) in Lebanon.
